Stafford Beer was a world famous Professor of Cybernetics (the science of effective organization and regulation of large complex systems). His most high profile project was applying these ideas to the Chilean economy under President Salvador Allende. Stafford was also a painter and a poet.
David Whittaker gives a personal account of his friendship with Stafford and reproduces about 50 of Stafford's letters.
Also included is a unique interview with the musician Brian Eno. He talks about his own friendship with Beer and the significance of cybernetic concepts in music making.
